Safe Sitter Classes

The Safe Sitter program is a nationwide not-for-profit, medically-oriented instructional program designed to train young persons aged 11 to 13 how to be safe baby sitters.  The program teaches baby sitters how to handle major and minor medical emergencies and proper child-care skills. 

The Safe Sitter classes are offered as a 14-hour two-day course or as a one-day seven course.

The curriculum for both courses will cover the following:  care for a choking infant or child; injury management; the business of babysitting; basic child care; and safety for the sitter.

The two-day course also includes: injury prevention; infant and child CPR; and first aid.

One-Day Basic Course

The cost of this course is $35 and it runs from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Two-Day Course

The cost of this course is $55 and it runs from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. both days.  Students must be present both days to receive certification.

Location:  Rockford Memorial Hospital, 2400 N. Rockton Avenue.
