The Cytogenetic Laboratory is
part of Rockford Health System. It
is located in Rockford -
approximately 20 miles from the southern
Wisconsin border and is 90 miles
northwest of
Chicago.
The Cytogenetic Laboratory
currently serves a nine-county area in
Illinois, Wisconsin and
Iowa It
is accredited by The Joint Commission,
the Clinical Laboratory Improvement Act
(CLIA), and the College of American
Pathologists (CAP) and actively
participates in CAP cytogenetic
proficiency testing.
The Lab offers
full-service genetic testing for:
the determination of genetic
disorders, prenatal diagnosis, detection
of changes that are seen in
malignancies, and chromosome anomalies
that can be determined by fluorescent in
situ hybridization (FISH).
The lab provides:
• rapid turn-around time
• an overall cell culture success
rate of 99 percent
• meticulous analysis of cultured
specimens by ASCP certified
professionals
