Da
Vinci Surgical System

Rockford
Health System, the region’s leader in
surgery, is proud to introduce the da
Vinci Surgical System, the most advanced
technology available in
minimally-invasive robotic surgery for
prostate cancer.
Da
Vinci allows surgeries to be performed
through very small incisions, resulting
in:
The da Vinci
Surgical System is powered by
state-of-the-art robotic technology that
allows the surgeon’s hand movements to
be translated into precise movements of
small instruments within the operating
area. Da Vinci cannot be programmed on
its own and requires that every surgical
movement be performed with direct input
from the surgeon.
The system has been
used in thousands of surgical procedures
around the world and is found at the
leading medical centers in the U.S.
Local patients previously had to go to
Chicago or Madison to access medical
centers with da Vinci technology.
Our team of da Vinci surgeons
from Rockford Urological Associates
(RUA) performing robotic prostatectomy
includes Mark Cormier, M.D.,
Michael Fumo, M.D., and Doug
Roegner, M.D.
Dr. Fumo recently joined RUA and
leads the da Vinci program. He has been
the primary surgeon on more than 100 da
Vinci procedures and has assisted on
nearly 1,000 cases in his career.
