Anesthesiology
Anesthesiologists are medical doctors
who have completed a four-year
undergraduate degree, four years of
medical school and an anesthesiology
residency training program.
As physicians, anesthesiologists are
responsible for administering anesthesia
to relieve pain and for managing vital
life functions, including breathing,
heart rhythm, blood pressure, brain and
kidney function during surgery. They
also manage and treat medical problems
which may be present before or that may
develop during or immediately after
surgery.
The anesthesiology staff at Rockford
Health System is composed only of
board-certified/eligible physicians.
This means that all aspects of your
anesthesia care are only provided by an
anesthesiologist.
